How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Locally constant sheaves of finite rank
Definition
Let be a topological space (Topology on a set, open and closed sets, clopen sets, the closed-set axiomatisation, and the coarser/finer comparison), let be a field and let be a sheaf of -vector spaces on (A sheaf on a topological space, Presheaves and sheaves of groups, rings, and modules). Then is locally constant of finite rank if every point has an open neighbourhood for which there are an integer and an isomorphism of sheaves on where is the constant sheaf on with value and is the restriction of to the open subspace (Restriction of a sheaf to an open subspace, Morphisms of presheaves, The constant sheaf is the sheaf of locally constant functions). A sheaf with this property is also called a finite-rank local system of -vector spaces on . This is a property of the sheaf on the space; no identification of such sheaves with functors on the fundamental groupoid is part of the definition.
The sheaf is the -fold direct sum of in the category of sheaves of -vector spaces, with the zero sheaf; its sections over an open are the locally constant functions . The integer is quantified locally, so no global rank is asserted and the rank may differ from point to point; the definition asserts no existence of a global trivialization. The final sentence records only that a functorial groupoid presentation of local systems is a different, uncompared object here.

Dependency tree · two levels
24 results within two dependency steps of this one, each drawn at its shortest distance from it. An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
