How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
One-dimensional shallow-water balance law with a dry-state convention
Definition
Fix gravity and a stationary bed . A shallow-water state is a pair with depth and momentum . Its admissible wet/dry state set is For , define velocity by when and when . Thus a dry state has both and . Define the free surface by and the physical flux by For a continuously differentiable bed, the one-dimensional shallow-water balance law is The source is evaluated as zero at a dry state.
A discrete lake-at-rest profile with level has and in every wet cell; cells with are dry and satisfy .
Remarks
The conserved variables are depth and momentum, not depth and velocity. The convention at makes both and the physical flux well-defined. No entropy inequality, convergence result, or path product for discontinuous bed steps is included in this definition.
