How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Finite POVM outcome kernel
Definition
Let be a nonzero finite-dimensional complex-inner-product space and fix an ordered basis of (Finite-dimensional vector space, and its dimension ; infinite-dimensional means having no finite basis, Real and complex inner-product spaces and their induced length). Represent each endomorphism by its matrix in (Coordinate columns and matrices of linear maps relative to ordered bases), and identify its real and imaginary entries with a point of . Give the density set (nonnegative operators of trace one, Density operator) the topology whose open sets are intersections of with open subsets of that Euclidean coordinate space. Its Borel -algebra is the smallest -algebra containing those open sets; a -algebra is a family of subsets closed under complements and countable unions.
Let be the finite outcome set of a POVM on . A finite probability kernel from to assigns to each a finite probability space on , and requires that be Borel measurable for every event (Finite probability spaces, outcome weights, events, and event probabilities). The Borel -algebra on is generated by its open sets; a real-valued function is Borel measurable when the preimage of every such Borel set belongs to the domain's Borel -algebra.
For the POVM outcome weights from Finite POVMs and their outcome law, define the candidate kernel by
Here is the finite-dimensional endomorphism trace (The basis-independent trace of an endomorphism of a finite-dimensional vector space).
That this assignment is a probability kernel and is affine in is proved in The finite POVM law is a probability kernel ↗. The matrix-coordinate -algebra is fixed in the definition; no unmentioned topology on the state set is used.

38 results within two dependency steps of this one, each drawn at its shortest distance from it. An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
