How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Periodic tensor grids and multilinear interpolation
Definition
Let , let , and let be integers. The periodic rectangular box is Set . Its uniform tensor grid has nodes , indexed by , with indices understood modulo .
For node data and a lift of a point on the torus, define and for define The tensor-product multilinear interpolant is where is the residue in . The formula is unchanged when a period is added to , so it defines an interpolant on . If , the two corner indices in that coordinate coincide; the formula still gives the same node value.
For a continuous periodic function , means the interpolant of its grid samples. Put .
Convention diagram
The picture shows one lifted coordinate cell. The weights are at the left endpoint and at the right endpoint; periodic wrapping only changes the node indices.
The diagram fixes the coordinate and weight convention only. The multidimensional interpolant is the product of the coordinate weights in the displayed formula.
