How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
A finite complete filtered L∞ Maurer–Cartan equation
Example
Let , , and in other degrees, so the shifted space has and . Set , define the graded-symmetric map , and let for . Give the filtration , , and for . This is a complete filtered L∞-algebra, and its Maurer–Cartan set consists only of .
Facts & Assumptions
Given: A characteristic-zero field and the operations and filtration specified in the Example.
Shifted coalgebra definition of an L∞-algebra: degree-one symmetric operations on define an L∞-algebra exactly when their coderivation squares to zero.
Square-zero coderivations are equivalent to the shifted higher Jacobi identities: the square-zero condition is equivalent to the displayed unshuffle Jacobi identities.
Complete filtered L∞-algebra: completeness is the bijection to compatible quotient cosets, and each must raise filtration by the sum of input filtration indices.
The Maurer–Cartan series converges in a complete filtered L∞-algebra: the Maurer–Cartan series for has a unique limit in .
Maurer–Cartan element of a complete filtered L∞-algebra: a Maurer–Cartan element is a degree-zero element of where this series is zero.
Field: is a field, so implies .
Verification
The only nonzero operation is the degree-one map ; it is symmetric because has degree zero. Any nonzero nested operation would apply an outer to an inner output in , but . Thus every higher Jacobi expression in [F2] vanishes. By [F1]–[F2] these operations define an L∞-algebra.
The filtration is separated since . The compatible quotient cosets are determined by their representative in ; conversely each gives the compatible family . Hence the natural map in [F3] is bijective. Moreover and ; all other required filtration inclusions hold because and for . This is complete filtered L∞ data.
Every degree-zero element has form . Its Maurer–Cartan series from [F4] is because all other operations vanish. It is zero exactly when by [F6]. Therefore the Maurer–Cartan set is .
