How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Shifted coalgebra definition of an L∞-algebra
Definition
Let be a characteristic-zero field (Field, The characteristic of a ring: the least with when one exists, and otherwise), and let be a graded -vector space. Use the cohomological suspension
The reduced cofree conilpotent cocommutative coalgebra on is the of Reduced graded symmetric coalgebra with its shuffle coproduct, with its cofree property proved in The reduced graded symmetric coalgebra is cofree conilpotent cocommutative.
An L∞-algebra on in the shifted coalgebra convention is a degree coderivation with and no arity-zero component. A coderivation satisfies , with the Koszul sign on , as defined in Coderivations of the reduced graded symmetric coalgebra are determined by corestrictions. Its corestrictions are
where is the length-one projection. Conversely, each such family determines a unique coderivation by that lemma. The condition is equivalent to the higher Jacobi identities proved in Square-zero coderivations are equivalent to the shifted higher Jacobi identities ↗.
This is the shifted convention only: no unsuspended skew operations or translation formula for them is asserted. Curved structures with an arity-zero term are outside this definition.
Depends on
- Field
- Koszul sign rule for graded tensor products and permutations
- Reduced graded symmetric coalgebra with its shuffle coproduct
- The characteristic of a ring: the least $n \ge 1$ with $n \cdot 1_R = 0$ when one exists, and $0$ otherwise
- Every field is a commutative ring with $1 \ne 0$; it is an integral domain, and it is a commutative division ring
- The reduced graded symmetric coalgebra is cofree conilpotent cocommutative
- Coderivations of the reduced graded symmetric coalgebra are determined by corestrictions

27 results within two dependency steps of this one, each drawn at its shortest distance from it. An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
