How statement and proof provenance work

The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.

  • Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
  • AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
  • AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.

These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.

Koszul sign rule for graded tensor products and permutations

Definition

Let k be a field (Field), and let V1,…,Vn be graded k-vector spaces. A k-vector space is a unital left k-module as in Unital left and right modules over a ring; unqualified module means left module. Tensor powers are formed using the tensor products of Tensor algebra of a vector space. If fi:Vi→Wi are homogeneous linear maps of degrees di, and xi∈Vi are homogeneous of degrees pi, the graded tensor map is defined on pure tensors by

(f1⊗⋯⊗fn)(x1⊗⋯⊗xn)=(−1)∑i>jdipjf1(x1)⊗⋯⊗fn(xn).

It is extended linearly. In particular, for two maps, (f⊗g)(x⊗y)=(−1)∣g∣∣x∣f(x)⊗g(y).

For homogeneous x1,…,xn and a permutation σ∈Sn, the Koszul sign of reordering them to xσ(1)⊗⋯⊗xσ(n) is

ϵ(σ;x1,…,xn)=(−1)∑i<jσ(i)>σ(j)∣xσ(i)∣∣xσ(j)∣.

Thus swapping two adjacent homogeneous factors x,y contributes (−1)∣x∣∣y∣. Every tensor of maps, permutation, unshuffle, and symmetric power below uses this same convention. A sign is a scalar in k determined only by the parity of the displayed integer exponent.

17 results within two dependency steps of this one, each drawn at its shortest distance from it. An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
