How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Overdamped ULA and underdamped BAOAB have different harmonic variance errors
Example
For overdamped ULA targeting , take step . For underdamped BAOAB, take the harmonic oscillator and step . The two invariant laws concern different state variables and transition kernels; their variance formulas are juxtaposed only to make that distinction explicit.
Facts & Assumptions
Given: The ULA Gaussian theorem, the harmonic BAOAB theorem, , and , .
The Gaussian ULA invariant law has variance : for the standard normal target and , ULA has invariant variance .
Exact invariant covariance and stability threshold for scalar harmonic BAOAB: for , BAOAB has and .
The Axiom of Choice: AC is inherited through [F1] and [F2]; the side-by-side substitutions use no additional choice.
Verification
Given: The ULA Gaussian theorem, the harmonic BAOAB theorem, , and , .
[F1] The Gaussian ULA invariant law has variance : for the standard normal target and , ULA has invariant variance .
[F2] Exact invariant covariance and stability threshold for scalar harmonic BAOAB: for , BAOAB has and .
[A1] The Axiom of Choice: AC is inherited through [F1] and [F2]; the side-by-side substitutions use no additional choice.
Given: The parameters in the Example.
Since , [F1] gives the ULA invariant variance , compared with the target variance .
For BAOAB, and . Thus [F2] gives position variance and momentum variance , compared with the canonical momentum variance . The ULA variance describes a single overdamped coordinate; the BAOAB pair describes both position and momentum. Neither result supplies the other's invariant-law claim.

Dependency tree · two levels
23 results within two dependency steps of this one, each drawn at its shortest distance from it. An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
