How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
The Helmholtz double layer has a common weak conormal
Statement
Assume the Axiom of Choice. On the surface of The combined-field operator for smooth-boundary Helmholtz scattering, the extensions of Smooth-boundary trace lifts and Sobolev Helmholtz layer extensions satisfy, for and , Trace and conormal equalities hold in and , respectively; both conormals use the same normal pointing out of .
Facts & Assumptions
Given: The Axiom of Choice and the densities in the Statement.
The layers have bounded piecewise restrictions, weak conormals, common single-layer trace and double-layer trace jump , with their distributional source representations proved in Smooth-boundary trace lifts and Sobolev Helmholtz layer extensions.
Proof
For any piecewise Helmholtz solution with jumps and , apply the two weak Green identities of [F1] to a compactly supported smooth test . The outer artificial boundary contributes zero, and the opposite orientations of the inner boundary give . The subscript indicates the complex-bilinear version of weak duality; conjugating the test converts this to the sesquilinear convention. For , the differentiated kernel source identity is . Substituting from [F1] cancels these terms, leaving . Traces of smooth ambient tests are dense in by the chart lift/approximation construction in [F1], so in .
For , [F1] gives zero trace jump and . The identity of step 1.1 reduces to . The same density and boundedness give . Together with the trace assertions of [F1], this proves all four identities.

26 results within two dependency steps of this one, each drawn at its shortest distance from it. An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
