How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Finite-support regularization of quantum label-weight modules
Statement
Let be a symmetrizable Cartan datum with for all (Symmetrizable Cartan data for quantum groups) and let be a -graded type-one quantum weight module (Quantum weight modules, weights in , and integrability) whose support is contained in a finite union of cones,
where . Choose a finite free direct coordinate summand (with respect to a free basis of , Free abelian group on a set) containing all and all , and set
with the evaluation pairing . Define by and for , and put . Then:
(i) with the simple roots and simple coroots is a symmetrizable Cartan datum for a quantum group with the same generalized Cartan matrix and the same symmetrizer ; its pairing is perfect, the are linearly independent, the are primitive and independent, and integral fundamental weights () exist. Here is the original convention (Realization of a generalized cartan matrix, Minimal realizations exist and are unique up to isomorphism).
(ii) Fix the transported -grading so . On this fixed graded space there is a unique type-one quantum weight module structure for the auxiliary datum retaining the original actions: its toral action is with the actions of , and of the simple coroots unchanged. In particular the old action is recovered from the label as , and the old and auxiliary actions agree. Uniqueness is asserted for this transported grading; the original toral action alone need not determine the labels when the original pairing is not separating.
(iii) The two recipes are inverse on objects and grading-preserving morphisms: on -modules with labels in and support as above, the identity on underlying vector spaces is an equivalence between the category of -graded type-one modules and the corresponding full subcategory of -graded type-one modules with labels in . This is not an embedding of the old torus algebra into the new one and is asserted only inside this finite-support category.
(iv) The construction applies simultaneously to Verma modules and highest weight modules (supported in ) and to finite tensor products of such modules (labels add), by choosing one containing all participating upper weights and all simple roots; the tensor-product formulas of The Drinfeld–Jimbo formulas define a Hopf algebra are unchanged because only the diagonal toral characters change.
(v) Rationally, decomposes as , where is a minimal realization of (of dimension , , ) and is a complement on which all vanish. After extension to , is a minimal realization in the sense of Minimal realizations exist and are unique up to isomorphism, and the extended Cartan–Serre algebra is . For a classical highest weight module with highest weight , the central summand acts by ; restriction to the minimal realization preserves its submodules and its weight multiplicities, with indexed by the same .
Facts & Assumptions
Given: A symmetrizable Cartan datum with , a -graded type-one module with , and a finite free direct summand containing the and .
is a free abelian group; a subgroup spanned by a finite subset of a free basis is itself free and a direct summand of , with complementary summand spanned by the remaining basis elements (Free abelian group on a set, Symmetrizable Cartan data for quantum groups).
For a finite free abelian group the evaluation map , , is an isomorphism; for finite free the pairing is perfect (Free abelian group on a set).
The defining relations of the Drinfeld–Jimbo algebra with respect to any Cartan datum are the toral, toral-action, mixed and quantum Serre relations (The Drinfeld-Jimbo quantized enveloping algebra by generators and relations).
In the original datum, is type one: acts on by , and ; the labels with lie in because every weight of is with (Quantum weight modules, weights in , and integrability).
Over , the algebra for a minimal realization of a finite symmetrizable GCM has the Cartan relations and both Serre families as its presentation (Serre presentation of a kac moody algebra).
Verification
Choosing a free basis of , let be the finite set of basis elements occurring in the finitely many elements , and put . Then is free of finite rank, contains all and , and for the summand spanned by the remaining basis elements, by [F1]. Consequently contains the whole support of : every weight is some with by [F4], and both and the lie in .
By [F2] the evaluation pairing is perfect, and the map is an isomorphism of onto the subgroup of ; hence is injective, so the are linearly independent (as the are, Symmetrizable Cartan data for quantum groups). The are basis elements of the first summand, hence independent and primitive. For all , by the row convention of the datum, and on the second summand; hence the generalized Cartan matrix of the auxiliary datum is and the symmetrizer still satisfies . The elements with and are well-defined fundamental weights. Thus (i) holds.
Transport of the module: grade by as in (ii) and let act on by the scalar , while act as before. This is well defined because and has no labels outside by step 1.1, so . The toral relations hold because the scalars multiply ( and acts by ). For the toral-action relations, acts on by , which is the required scalar; the -variant has the opposite sign. The mixed relation holds because its toral part involves only , which acts on by , the same scalar as the original ; and both coincide with their original actions. The Serre relations hold because they involve only the unchanged and the unchanged Cartan matrix and . Hence is a type-one module for the auxiliary datum with support in . For uniqueness on the prescribed grading, the type-one condition forces every to act on by ; these summands span , and the actions are fixed. Thus every generator action is determined, proving (ii).
Converse and equivalence: given an -graded type-one module with labels in (i.e. for ), define with the same underlying vector spaces and for ; the actions of are kept, and acts on by where — well defined since is injective by step 2.1. These two assignments are inverse on objects; on morphisms both are the identity map on underlying -linear maps, and a map preserving one grading preserves the other because is a bijection fixing the actions. This proves (iii). The construction is not an algebra embedding of tori: may be nonzero, and its elements act as new labels with no preimage in ; the equivalence is only between the stated module categories with labels in .
Simultaneity: for a Verma module or highest weight module of highest weight the support lies in , and for a finite tensor product of such modules the labels are sums of labels, hence lie in ; therefore one finite set (the participating upper weights) and one containing them and all cover all modules under consideration. Under the coproduct the - and -components are unchanged ( and of The Drinfeld–Jimbo formulas define a Hopf algebra), and the toral factors act by the auxiliary characters on both tensor factors, so the auxiliary structure on a tensor product is the tensor product of the auxiliary structures; the collection of such constructions is therefore compatible. This proves (iv).
Rational decomposition: let , so , and let be the evaluation . It is surjective because the are linearly independent and the pairing is perfect; its restriction to has rank (the matrix ). Choose rational directions in whose images under supplement the image of , and let be the span of these directions together with the independent ; then and the coroots together with the chosen directions form a basis of on which has rank , so after extension to , is a minimal realization of in the sense of Realization of a generalized cartan matrix and Minimal realizations exist and are unique up to isomorphism. Inside choose a linear complement to ; then by construction, and , so all simple roots vanish on and the corresponding generators are central. This proves the rational decomposition.
Classical comparison. By [F5], adjoining to the minimal Cartan introduces only central generators: all simple roots vanish there and all coroots belong to . Mapping these generators to the two summands of , and mapping back the minimal generators and , gives mutually inverse Lie homomorphisms, since every Cartan and Serre relation is respected. In a cyclic highest weight module with highest vector , centrality gives for every , so a subspace is a submodule for the extended algebra exactly when it is one for the minimal algebra. Moreover the restrictions are independent by step 6.1. Thus different weights in this one highest-weight cone remain different on , while their values on are all ; their weight spaces, and hence multiplicities, are unchanged. In particular restriction identifies the Verma module and its simple highest weight quotient with their minimal-realization counterparts, preserving integrability. This proves (v); the minimal-realization proposition supplies only realization isomorphisms, and the multiplicity comparison is the argument here.
