How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Signed phase decoding has no alias on the promised spectrum
Statement
Let , , , and let be the least power of two with . For with , phase estimation using powers of has exact eigenphase angle on an eigenvector of eigenvalue . This lies strictly in ; signed decoding for and otherwise uses the unique centered representative. Its eigenvalue grid is , with spacing .
Facts & Assumptions
Given: A self-adjoint finite-dimensional , the OP5 scale, and as above.
Complex spectral theorem: a normal endomorphism of a finite-dimensional complex inner product space has an orthonormal eigenbasis, and conversely: a normal finite-dimensional complex endomorphism has an orthonormal eigenbasis; implies is normal.
Unitary and differential identities for finite matrix dynamics: ; on an eigenvector with eigenvalue , replacing by gives .
Quantum phase estimation and Exact binary QFT circuit correctness: phase estimation uses Fourier-basis labels modulo .
Proof
By [F1], choose an orthonormal eigenbasis and let . The root inner product is linear in its first argument and conjugate-linear in the second (Dirac Notation Conversion). Self-adjointness therefore gives so is real. Also , so .
On this eigenvector, has eigenvalue , where is the unique representative of modulo in . Each controlled power has eigenphase , so phase estimation encodes this same phase modulo one.
Since , by [F4]. Thus the centered representative of the phase angle is exactly , with no alias by a multiple of . Centered decoding gives the stated signed integer and adjacent eigenvalue grid values differ by .

61 results within two dependency steps of this one, each drawn at its shortest distance from it. An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
