How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.

Statement
Assume Countable Choice and the MINI mesh hypotheses. For , define by This defines a unique linear map, the restriction to of the -orthogonal projection , and If additionally and , then where is independent of and and depends on , shape regularity and the uniform MINI inf-sup constant.
Facts & Assumptions
Given: A bounded connected Lipschitz polyhedral domain, its shape-regular MINI mesh, , and viscosity .
is a finite-dimensional subspace of and is symmetric; Korn and give . (Weak and pointwise divergence-free discrete velocities, Stokes velocity and pressure spaces and weak forms, The homogeneous Dirichlet strain identity)
Every bounded linear functional on a real Hilbert space has a unique Riesz representative. (Riesz representation for Hilbert spaces)
For a continuous Stokes pair in , the MINI inf-sup and mixed Galerkin results apply, with discrete velocity in ; the Scott--Zhang interpolant has the stated and pressure approximation bounds. (Uniform Fortin stability of the mini element, Mixed Galerkin error bound retaining beta_h, Mini-element H1 velocity and L2 pressure error estimate, Boundary-preserving face-average P1 interpolation, Weak and pointwise divergence-free discrete velocities)
Countable Choice is assumed as in the Stokes approximation and Hilbert representation inputs. (The Axiom of Countable Choice (), Mini-element H1 velocity and L2 pressure error estimate)
Proof
For any , equip with the inner product . It is positive definite by [F1]. The functional is bounded on this finite-dimensional Hilbert space, so [F2] gives a unique satisfying the displayed equation. Linearity follows from uniqueness and linearity of the right-hand side. For the equation gives , so this extension to is a projection. For any , orthogonality gives Using yields the stated best-approximation bound.
Let for . It is bounded on , and for every because ; hence solves the continuous Stokes problem with data . Let and . By [F3], , , and , . The MINI mixed problem has a solution with . Its inf-sup constant satisfies independently of and , while , , and . The mixed error formula therefore gives and . Step 1.1 with now yields , with independent of and .

45 results within two dependency steps of this one, each drawn at its shortest distance from it. An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
