How statement and proof provenance work

The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.

  • Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
  • AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
  • AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.

These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.

R-symbol unitarity

Statement

In a unitary braided fusion category, every R-symbol matrix in orthonormal multiplicity bases is unitary.

Facts & Assumptions

Given: a unitary braided fusion category and simple charges a,b,c.

[F1]

Unitary fusion category: the braiding is a unitary isomorphism, so ca,b†=ca,b−1.

[F2]

R-symbol as a channel exchange map: the channel map is Rabc(f)=f∘ca,b−1 from Vabc to Vbac.

[F3]

Fusion multiplicity spaces are finite-dimensional inner-product spaces: on either multiplicity space, ⟨f,g⟩id⁡c=f∘g†.

Proof

1.1F1F2construct

The map Rabc is invertible: its inverse sends g∈Vbac to g∘ca,b. Indeed, composing either way cancels ca,b−1 with ca,b by [F2].

1.2F1F2F3algebra

For f,g∈Vabc, the inner product of their images is (f∘ca,b−1)∘(g∘ca,b−1)†=f∘ca,b−1∘ca,b∘g†=f∘g†. The middle equality uses (g∘c−1)†=c∘g† from [F1] and contravariance of dagger. Thus [F3] shows that Rabc preserves the inner product.

2.1F1F2step 1.1step 1.2∎

In the orthonormal bases used to define Rabc, step 1.2 gives (Rabc)†Rabc=I, and step 1.1 gives invertibility. Therefore Rabc is unitary; when both spaces have dimension zero this is the empty identity matrix.

8 results within two dependency steps of this one, each drawn at its shortest distance from it. An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
