How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Smooth-integrand variance rate for nestedly scrambled -nets
Statement
Assume Countable Choice. Fix , , , and . For each sufficiently large , let be a -net in base , where , and let be its nested uniform scramble. Suppose is real, continuous on , and every nonempty mixed coordinate derivative exists and is continuous on the cube. Then The implicit constant may depend on and the suprema of the mixed derivatives; the limit is along .
Facts & Assumptions
Given: Countable Choice, fixed , the nets and their nested scrambles, and the smooth integrand.
ANOVA variance identity for nestedly scrambled point sets: The variance is the sum .
Fixed-quality net gain coefficients are uniformly bounded: For fixed , gains vanish if and otherwise .
Smoothness bounds the high-frequency ANOVA components: For each , with finite independent of .
Moments, variance, and covariance on a probability space: The target variance is the centered second moment, finite under the stated continuity.
For a nonempty subset of with , compactness, closedness and boundedness, pseudocompactness, and attainment of extrema by every continuous real-valued function are equivalent: A continuous real function on the compact cube is bounded.
The Axiom of Countable Choice (): Countable Choice is inherited through [F1].
Proof
Given: The objects and hypotheses of the Statement.
By [F5], is bounded on the compact cube and is square-integrable; [F4] identifies its variance as the finite centered second moment. Put . By [F1]–[F3] and nonnegativity of the component variances, , where each is fixed independently of .
Fix and write . The number of nonnegative -tuples with coordinate sum is . For , reindexing with gives For fixed , ; for , . The series converges, so the display is , since and .
There are finitely many nonempty subsets , with . Substituting the bounds from step 2.1 into step 1.1 gives . The constants depend only on the fixed parameters and the derivative bounds in [F3].

An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
