How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Stability does not imply cell superstability
Statement refuted
Every stable pair potential is cell-superstable.
Facts & Assumptions
Given: An integer and the stability and cell-superstability conventions in the current continuum-interaction definition.
The current draft Stability, superstability and regular tails fixes the half-open cubic tiling for some and defines cell superstability by the existence of constants , such that for every finite position list. It defines stability by . This counterexample uses these exact interfaces; the supplier is a definition and no proof-status claim is made.
Integer part: for every real there is exactly one integer with : for every real there is an integer with .
Counterexample
Set for every . It is even and Borel, vanishes outside every finite range, and has for every finite configuration. Thus it is stable with under [A1].
Fix any proposed cubical partition with side and constants , for cell superstability. Choose a cell with center and, for any integer , place the distinct points , , in that cell and none elsewhere. All coordinates lie strictly inside the cell, and their first coordinates are distinct. Hence while .
Apply [F1] to and let . Set , so . The proposed cell-superstability inequality would require , a contradiction. Since every proposed positive and finite fails, the zero potential is stable but not cell-superstable.
