How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Entropy density agreement does not force local state agreement
Statement
For a finite Hermitian matrix , write for its trace norm: the sum of the absolute values of its eigenvalues, counted with multiplicity.
For the canonical densities of Additive spectral Hamiltonian and normalized ensembles with , and any fixed finite , there are finite density sequences whose dimensionless entropy per site has the same limit as while their one-site reduced states remain separated from its one-site marginal by a fixed trace norm.
Facts & Assumptions
Given: The finite tensor density, reduced-state, and spectral entropy conventions of Finite tensor density, observable and measurement language, Subsystem expectations and reduced finite tensor densities, and Dimensionless entropy of a finite density matrix.
Dimensionless entropy of a finite density matrix: a density with positive eigenvalues has entropy .
Subsystem expectations and reduced finite tensor densities: the one-site reduction is the partial trace over all remaining factors.
Additive spectral Hamiltonian and normalized ensembles: for the stated zero levels, , , and the canonical density is .
Proof
On , the supplier [F3] identifies the stated canonical one-site density as and its -site density as . For each , set and . Both are positive of trace one, so are finite tensor densities. Their positive eigenvalues are respectively with multiplicity and with multiplicity . By [F1], and ; therefore .
By [F2], the one-site reductions are and . Their difference in the ordered basis is , whose eigenvalues have absolute sum one. Thus for every . Entropy-density agreement alone therefore does not imply local trace-norm convergence.
