How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Kinetic density, velocity, covariance stress and heat flux
Definition
Use the velocity space and Lebesgue measure fixed by Cutoff elastic-reflection collision measure and gain. Let be a flat periodic spatial domain with periods (in metres in the physical interpretation), and let be an open time interval. Let be a measurable number density in position and velocity. At each where the integrals below are finite, assume and . Fix a particle mass in kilograms, with number count dimensionless. In SI, has units .
Define , by , and . Define the number density , mass density , mean velocity , kinetic covariance momentum flux
internal kinetic-energy density , and heat-flux vector
Their SI units are respectively , , , pascals, , and . The tensor is symmetric because each integrand is symmetric, and it is positive semidefinite because for every , . It is the kinetic momentum-flux covariance; in the balance law below it enters with a plus sign, while a continuum tensile-stress variable defined from it would be .
