How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Abstract polymer model and connected coefficients
Definition
An abstract polymer model consists of an at most countable set (finite or in bijection with ), a reflexive symmetric relation on (so and implies ), and an activity function . Its elements are called polymers, and means that the two polymers are incompatible. A subset is compatible when no two distinct elements of are related by . For real and natural summands, finite-index sums and products are enumeration-independent. For complex summands, define a finite sum or product by any enumeration and repeated addition or multiplication in ; associativity and commutativity make the result independent of the enumeration. The empty sum is and the empty product is . For each finite , define the finite-volume partition polynomial
where the empty subset contributes .
Write and . A simple graph on is a pair with ; a path is a finite vertex list with distinct vertices and each consecutive pair an edge. A graph is connected when every two vertices are joined by a path. A cycle is a vertex list with , , distinct, and each consecutive pair an edge; a tree is a connected simple graph with no cycle. For with , let be the set of connected simple graphs on and let be the set of trees on . The set is finite; its power set is finite, so its subset is finite; the power set of that edge set is finite as well. Each simple graph on is determined by an edge set in this last power set, so and are finite.
For an ordered tuple , put and define the connected coefficient
For , contains the one-vertex graph and the empty edge product equals . These are finite polynomial and coefficient definitions; they assert no convergence.
