How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Finite-state generator chain
Definition
Let for a finite integer . A rate matrix on is a real matrix such that for and for every . Write , so . The row convention acts on a column observable by ; a row probability vector evolves by right multiplication.
Fix an initial probability vector , meaning and ; initial law means for every . Put . If , then and set for every and let the associated realization be the constant process with . If , put , a stochastic matrix. A uniformized realization consists of a probability space carrying a discrete-time Markov sequence with initial law and transition matrix , and independent random variables that are independent of the entire sequence and satisfy for . Here a discrete-time Markov sequence with transition matrix means that for every , , and . Each therefore has the exponential distribution of rate ; in particular its mean is . Require almost surely. Put , , and, on this probability-one event, and . On its null complement set and . The construction filtration is ; it records event counts and states through time and is not completed or made right-continuous by this definition.
This uniformized construction permits reducible rate matrices and states with zero exit rate. Under the Axiom of Choice, Uniformization constructs every finite-state rate matrix chain ↗ proves that every finite rate matrix and initial law admit such a realization and that its conditional transition matrices are .
