How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
The ideal harmonic electric-dipole radiation model and its adopted status
Explicit ideal radiation-law model of a harmonic electric dipole of complex amplitude in vacuum: the leading transverse far-zone fields on the punctured space, their flux , and the declared absence of magnetic-dipole and higher-multipole content. Excluded: exact Maxwell solutions at finite radius, near-zone and static fields, any actual source construction, boundary conditions, finite total energy, self-force and radiation reaction, material response laws, and every measured or empirical statement; the relation to actual compact smooth sources is only through the explicit error bounds of the dipole theorem.
Definition
Let , with the vacuum speed of Framework-local SI units, the vacuum constants and the exact/measured status of their values, the vacuum permeability of Framework-local SI units, the vacuum constants and the exact/measured status of their values, and (the complex dipole-moment amplitude, in ). Define, on the punctured space and all times ,
where and (The Euclidean inner product on , The cross product in ), with the real part and complex exponential of Real and imaginary parts, complex conjugation, and modulus and The complex exponential by its power series and the componentwise real-part encoding convention of Complex plane-wave fields: real parts of complex exponentials (the spatial amplitude here varies with ; no plane-wave instance is asserted). Call the ideal harmonic electric-dipole radiation model of frequency and amplitude , and call its model flux (Vacuum electromagnetic energy density and energy flux (the Poynting vector)); the model fields are read as an electric and a magnetic field of The electric and magnetic fields as fixed-time spatial vector fields.
Adopted status
This is an explicitly adopted ideal radiation-law model, fixed by the following declarations.
- It is the leading transverse far-zone field of Controlled electric-dipole far field and retarded-time radiated power of a compact smooth source(c) evaluated at the harmonic transverse moment , i.e. at for the waveform : by part (a) of Periodic responses of and the affine classification of all solutions the second derivative of that explicit waveform is , and substituting into gives exactly , because .
- The model contains no independent magnetic-dipole or higher-multipole radiation, no near-zone or static field and no other radiating component.
- It is not asserted to solve the vacuum Maxwell equations at finite , to be the field of any actual source, to satisfy any boundary condition or to have finite total energy on .
- For compact smooth conserved sources, comparison with these prescribed model fields uses the actual source's moment of Controlled electric-dipole far field and retarded-time radiated power of a compact smooth source, the harmonic waveform , their second-derivative mismatch
and the explicit bounds of Controlled electric-dipole far field and retarded-time radiated power of a compact smooth source (b), (c) and (e). A bound depending only on that source's and is valid when on the observation window, in which case the theorem's leading fields for the source's moment coincide with the model fields; for the comparison carries the additional mismatch term. The source's moment is not automatically the independently prescribed . These actual-source comparisons assume Countable Choice (The Axiom of Countable Choice ()) carried by the cited theorem. The explicit ideal fields themselves and their pointwise flux definition remain choice-free.
No measured, empirical or material-response content is adopted: is prescribed model data, not a derived polarizability.
Well-definedness and conventions
On the declared domain , so is the positive Euclidean norm and is a unit vector; and its real part are defined componentwise, and , are on because is there and the real and imaginary parts of are smooth combinations of the smooth functions , , and (Continuity and derivatives of positive-base real powers, The chain rule for total derivatives: , Sums, scalar multiples, products and quotients: , , , and when , , , and ). The field is transverse in the sense that and , because is orthogonal to and is orthogonal to by The cross product is bilinear, alternating, and orthogonal to both factors applied separately to real and imaginary parts, and holds by definition with . The model is meaningful at , where both fields and the flux vanish identically. The varying radial amplitude is not a plane-wave amplitude, and the componentwise real-part convention is that of Complex plane-wave fields: real parts of complex exponentials; the cross product, inner product and norms are those of The cross product in and The Euclidean inner product on . No equation of motion of any source, no determination of from any charge distribution and no energy or flux reading beyond the pointwise definition of in Vacuum electromagnetic energy density and energy flux (the Poynting vector) is part of this item.
