How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Local Lorentz tetrad and connection
Definition
Assume for the canonical tangent-bundle and tetrad conventions of Smooth time-oriented Lorentzian four-manifolds: the geometric objects of the model and Local frame fields, coordinate frames and tetrad fields. Let be a smooth, time-oriented Lorentzian four-manifold of signature , let be nonempty and open, and let be a smooth future-directed tetrad on . Thus the are a pointwise basis of , for , and is future-directed. Write for the dual coframe, so .
A tetrad connection is a smooth affine connection on ; its connection matrix in is defined by . It is a Lorentz connection when it is metric-compatible, equivalently when the matrix-valued one-form is -skew: satisfies . A smooth local Lorentz change is a smooth map . With the convention (equivalently ), the connection matrix transforms as
Here is the componentwise exterior derivative, and products of matrix-valued forms use matrix multiplication and the wedge product of their scalar form entries. Define the torsion and curvature forms by
Thus is an -valued two-form and is an -valued two-form. With this convention, is the local curvature two-form of . A local is a change of frame in a trivialization; it represents a gauge transformation in the sense of Gauge group of a smooth principal bundle only when it extends to a principal-bundle automorphism over the identity. No such extension, global tetrad, or spin structure is part of this definition.

Remarks
The coframe and connection form are local data on ; no global tetrad or global spin structure is asserted. The metric-selected Levi-Civita connection is one particular torsion-free instance of this local connection interface. For any connection on , the curvature also satisfies the second Bianchi identity supplied by the cited bundle-connection theorem.
