How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Lattice Bloch transform and band projectors
Definition
Let be integers, let be finite with , and let satisfy for each . Give the inner product , conjugate-linear in the first variable, and set with
Let with normalized Haar measure and orientation , and set with
Thus the target pairing, like the sequence-space pairing, is conjugate-linear in its first variable. On finitely supported define
On finitely supported sequences define
Assume Countable Choice for the unitary-extension assertion. The finite-range lattice Bloch model is the bounded extension of , together with the unitary extension of and its finite-matrix fibers . An isolated band cluster of rank is a fixed nonempty consecutive block of eigenvalues, counted with multiplicity, of the Hermitian matrix whose distance from the complementary eigenvalues is bounded below by a single for all ; if the block is the full spectrum, its projector is . The band projector is the orthogonal projection onto the sum of the eigenspaces in that block. For , is the oriented Brillouin torus used on this page.
This definition concerns finite-range hopping on a discrete lattice. It does not identify that model with a continuum periodic Schrödinger operator.
