How statement and proof provenance work

The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.

  • Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
  • AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
  • AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.

These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.

Zero-FI regular ADHM and framed twistor data

Definition

Fix integers N≥2 and k≥0. Let V=Ck and W=CN with their standard Hermitian inner products. A raw framed ADHM datum is x=(B1,B2,I,J) with Bi∈End⁡C(V), I:W→V, and J:V→W. Its complex and real moment expressions are

μC(x)=[B1,B2]+IJ,μR(x)=[B1,B1†]+[B2,B2†]+II†−J†J.

The datum is stable when the vectors Bi1⋯BimI(w), for m≥0, ij∈{1,2}, and w∈W, span V. It is costable when no nonzero subspace of V is invariant under both B1,B2 and contained in ker⁡J. It is regular when it is both stable and costable. The group GL(V) acts by g⋅x=(gB1g−1,gB2g−1,gI,Jg−1) and its unitary subgroup is U(V). The regular zero-FI real quotient is the orbit set

Ak,Nreg={x:μC(x)=0, μR(x)=0, x stable and costable}/U(V).

Let S4=HP1 have the unit round metric and the orientation whose restriction to the stereographic coordinates z1=x0+ix1, z2=x2+ix3 on R4=S4∖{∞} is dx0∧dx1∧dx2∧dx3. For a smooth right principal U(N)-bundle P→S4, let E=P×U(N)CN be its Hermitian associated vector bundle, let A be a smooth unitary connection, and let Φ:E∣∞→CN be a unitary framing. Write FA for the anti-Hermitian curvature matrix and define

qN(P,A)=−18π2∫S4tr⁡N(FA∧FA).

The anti-self-dual equation is FA+=(FA+∗gFA)/2=0. For integer k≥0, the framed ASD sector Mk,NASD is the set of such framed connections satisfying FA+=0 and qN(P,A)=−k, modulo smooth unitary gauge transformations whose value at ∞ is the identity in the framing. This definition alone does not assert that every sector exists or that qN is integral; the exact U(N) charge normalization is a separate lemma below.

Identify H2 with C4 using a fixed right quaternionic structure j with j2=−1. The twistor space is Z=CP3=PC(H2), the projection π:Z→HP1=S4 sends a complex line ℓ to the quaternionic line ℓ+jℓ, and the antiholomorphic involution is σ([v])=[jv]. A real twistor line is a fibre Lx=π−1(x)≅CP1; σ restricts to the antipodal map on each such line. Fix homogeneous coordinates [λ1:λ2:μ1:μ2] so σ is induced by (λ1,λ2,μ1,μ2)↦(−λˉ2,λˉ1,−μˉ2,μˉ1). The finite real line over z has equations μ1=z1λ1−zˉ2λ2, μ2=z2λ1+zˉ1λ2; the line at infinity is λ1=λ2=0. These equations fix the quaternionic identification and its orientation. In the chart λ1=1,λ2=0, vertical complex orientation followed by the positive orientation of (z1,z2) is the complex orientation of Z.

For the spinor convention, use the standard spin structure on S4 and Spin⁡(4)≅SU(2)+×SU(2)−. Let S+,S− be the associated rank-two complex spinor bundles, so TCS4≅S+⊗S−. The twistor fibre at x is P(Sx+), and the complex two-plane associated with ℓ∈P(Sx+) is ℓ⊗Sx−. Use the Levi-Civita connection of the round metric for the horizontal distribution of π; the horizontal (0,1) subspace at [ℓ]∈Lx projects to this complex alpha-plane. The displayed orientation is the twistor orientation: the vertical complex orientation followed by the quotient orientation on S4 agrees with the complex orientation on Z. It is chosen so the curvature component that vanishes on every such plane is precisely F+=(F+∗gF)/2. In spinor components, FAB=F(AB) denotes the symmetric spinor corresponding to F+ under Λ+2Tx∗S4⊗C≅Sym⁡2(Sx+)∗; restriction to the plane is FABπAπB, which vanishes for every [π]∈P(Sx+) exactly when F+=0.

A linear monad on Z is a complex of holomorphic bundles

OZ(−1)⊗U→aOZ⊗K→bOZ(1)⊗U′,

where U,U′,K are finite-dimensional complex vector spaces, b∘a=0, a is injective as a sheaf map, b is surjective, and the cohomology sheaf ker⁡b/im⁡a is locally free. It is framed when that cohomology has a specified unitary trivialization on L∞. For a holomorphic bundle E on Z that is holomorphically trivial on every real line, a positive Hermitian Ward reality datum is a holomorphic nondegenerate pairing b:E⊗σ∗E‾→OZ satisfying bσz(v,u)=bz(u,v)‾. Here bz is complex linear in u∈Ez and conjugate linear in v∈Eσz; the conjugate pullback is holomorphic because σ is antiholomorphic. For holomorphic sections s,t on Lx, the function bz(s(z),t(σz)) is holomorphic on the compact line, hence constant. It defines hx(s,t); require this Hermitian form to be positive definite for every x. The metric on each fibre of E∣Lx is transported from this form by holomorphic evaluation. Thus positive forms are induced by the pairing, not independent arbitrary choices. A framed Ward bundle includes a unitary framing on L∞ for this induced form. Smoothness and parallelness of the induced section-bundle metric are conclusions of the Ward construction.

The compact torus T=(S1)2×(S1)N acts on R4≅C2 by (z1,z2)↦(t1z1,t2z2) and on W by h=diag⁡(e1−1,…,eN−1). Its raw ADHM action is

(t1,t2,h)⋅(B1,B2,I,J)=(t1B1,t2B2,Ih−1,t1t2hJ).

On the framed ASD sector, the same torus acts by inverse pullback under the indicated rotation of S4 and by postcomposition of the framing with h. On Z, the rotations act by [λ1:λ2:μ1:μ2]↦[λ1:t1t2λ2:t1μ1:t2μ2], equivalently the projective spin lift to P(S+); the central sign in the spin double cover acts trivially after projectivization, and the induced action commutes with σ. The framing torus acts on the framed monad cohomology by the same diagonal representation.

Remarks

For each x∈S4, the fibre line Lx is included in Z and projects to x. The square commutes because the projection is constant on a fibre; the diagram records the chosen twistor-fibre convention.
