How statement and proof provenance work

The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.

  • Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
  • AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
  • AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.

These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.

Regular primary constraints and total generator

Physical scope

Mathematical local constraint-surface and total-generator conventions; no dynamics or physical constraint model is adopted.

Definition

Assume ACω and let (M2n,ω) be a smooth symplectic manifold. A finite family of smooth functions χ1,…,χr defined on an open neighborhood U⊆M is a regular primary constraint family on

C:={z∈U:χ1(z)=⋯=χr(z)=0}

when dχ1(z),…,dχr(z) are linearly independent at every z∈C. If C is nonempty, the regular-level theorem A regular level set is an embedded submanifold gives C its embedded-submanifold structure and TzC=⋂aker⁡dχa(z). If C=∅, use the unique empty smooth structure: the inclusion is an embedding and all pointwise tangent claims are vacuous; no dimension or codimension is inferred from the nonempty-level theorem. For functions F,G on U, write F≈G when F∣C=G∣C; thus F≈0 means that F vanishes on C, without requiring it to vanish off C.

Given an open interval J⊆R, a smooth canonical Hamiltonian Hc:J×U→R and smooth multiplier functions ua:J→R, the total generator is

HT(t,z):=Hc(t,z)+∑a=1rua(t)χa(z).

The functions ua are independent parameter functions; the definition does not assert that their equations determine them. If Hc is an energy and χa has units [χa], then ua has units energy divided by [χa], so every term in HT has the same units. A later constraint, if generated by consistency, is not declared primary by this definition.
