How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Explicit mathematical hypothesis/convention examples
Example
With : (i) the vector with components is future timelike and unit, . (ii) For the boost of The explicit Lorentz boost preserves , has determinant and preserves the future cone sends to the vector with components , whose quadratic value is and whose time component is positive; at the factor is undefined, so the hypothesis cannot be dropped. (iii) The null line , , has , so the proper-time construction of Proper time along a future timelike curve: strictly increasing reparametrization with gives , which is not an invertible parameter: the timelike hypothesis cannot be weakened to causal. (iv) For the symmetric nonzero form one has and , so the antisymmetry hypothesis of Antisymmetric contractions vanish and preserves is genuine. (v) For the skew form with , and other coefficients zero, the operator of Antisymmetric contractions vanish and preserves sends to : . Thus its invariant pairing and standard raised-index formula have the same sign, and . No physical clock premise or experimental claim is used.
Facts & Assumptions
Given: The Minkowski vector space of The Minkowski affine four-space: the form , causal cones, frames and Lorentz maps with its basis , the vector , whose components are , a real with , the boost and the number of The explicit Lorentz boost preserves , has determinant and preserves the future cone, the null line on , and the forms and the skew form with , and other coefficients zero.
On the form is symmetric and bilinear with matrix , it is nondegenerate, the vectors are the standard ordered basis, and consists of the nonzero causal vectors with positive time coordinate (The Minkowski affine four-space: the form , causal cones, frames and Lorentz maps).
For the map with , , , is a proper orthochronous Lorentz map, its inverse is , and at the factor is undefined (The explicit Lorentz boost preserves , has determinant and preserves the future cone).
For a nonempty open interval and a curve with and the function with has and gives the tangent with ; and if on , then , and is not injective (Proper time along a future timelike curve: strictly increasing reparametrization with ).
For a skew-symmetric bilinear form and each there is exactly one with for all , the map is linear, , and in a frame with and the inverse of (Antisymmetric contractions vanish and preserves ).
is a nonempty open interval, and a nonempty open interval is order-convex (Intervals of : the nine order-convex forms, nondegeneracy, and length).
For and rationals one has , and (Rational powers of a positive base, Laws of rational exponents).
Verification
(i) and , so is future timelike and unit in the sense .
(ii, coordinates) For , [L1] gives .
(iii, null tangent) The line has the constant derivative , so ; its positive time component also makes the tangent future causal.
(iv, symmetric form) For , symmetry gives for every , so satisfies the defining pairing. If another vector does so, for every , hence by nondegeneracy [F1]. Thus without using the skew hypothesis of [L3], and .
(v, skew sign witness) For the skew form with , and other coefficients zero, for every , so by [L3]. The raised-index formula gives , again the components of . Thus both signs agree and .
(ii, excluded endpoint) At , , so is undefined by [L1]; the endpoint cannot be included in this formula.
(ii, norm) By step 1.2, . Indeed [L5] with gives , and by [L1] and [L5].
(iii, conclusion) is a nonempty open interval by [L4]. The line of step 1.3 has constant, hence continuous, derivative, so is . The null clause of [L2] gives and , which is not injective; its future causal tangent therefore does not suffice for proper-time reparametrization.
All five checks are established — (i) in step 1.1, (ii) in steps 1.2, 2.1 and 1.6, (iii) in steps 1.3 and 2.2, (iv) in step 1.4, and (v) in step 1.5 — with no physical clock premise and no experimental claim.
