How statement and proof provenance work

The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.

  • Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
  • AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
  • AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.

These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.

Exact background scalar plane wave and derived current

Example

On R4 with x0=ct, Minkowski metric η=diag⁡(−1,1,1,1), and trivial bundle, set A=0, V(u)=ms2u with ms>0 in m−1, and

φ(t,x)=Cexp⁡(−iωt+ik⋅x),

where C≠0 is dimensionless, k∈R3 has units m−1, and ω:=c∣k∣2+ms2>0 has units s−1. For the scalar action of Classical complex-scalar connection derivative and action, this is an exact solution of the local background scalar equation, equivalently stationary under compactly supported scalar variations. The infinite-volume action value need not be finite; only the local equation and compactly supported variations are used. If the coupling λ≠0, the same configuration has a nonzero derived current although F=dA=0, so it fails the sourced Maxwell equation of Sourced Maxwell sign and current conservation. It is therefore a background scalar solution, not a solution of the coupled scalar–Maxwell system. No relation to ℏ or empirical data is used.

Facts & Assumptions

Given: The flat metric and trivial connection above, the scalar model of Classical complex-scalar connection derivative and action, the scalar Euler–Lagrange equation and current formula of Classical charged-scalar action, current and stress variation, and the planned sourced Maxwell sign convention of Sourced Maxwell sign and current conservation.

[F1]

For this model, Eφ=DaDaφ−V′(∣φ∣2)φ and ja=KφλIm⁡(φ‾Daφ). (Classical charged-scalar action, current and stress variation)

[F2]

The sourced Maxwell equation is ∂aFab=−μ0jb in this inertial chart, with μ0>0. (Sourced Maxwell sign and current conservation)

[A1]

The constants satisfy c>0, Kφ>0, ms>0, C≠0, and ω=c∣k∣2+ms2. The example is a mathematical background-field calculation.

[A2]

The in-run geometric supplier chain carries the ACω convention stated in The Axiom of Countable Choice (ACω); this calculation makes no further choice.

Verification

1.1A1A2F1algebra

Since A=0, Da=∂a and DaDa=−c−2∂t2+Δ. The plane wave has ∂t2φ=−ω2φ and Δφ=−∣k∣2φ, so Eφ=(ω2/c2−∣k∣2−ms2)φ=0 by [A1].

1.2A1F1algebra

The current formula [F1] gives j0=Kφλ(ω/c)∣C∣2 and ji=Kφλki∣C∣2. Thus j=0 when λ=0, while for λ≠0 its temporal component is nonzero because Kφ,ω,∣C∣2 are positive.

2.1A1F2step 1.2algebra∎

In either case F=dA=0 and hence ∂aFa0=0. If λ≠0, [F2] would require 0=−μ0j0 although μ0j0≠0 by step 1.2. Therefore the background scalar solution with nonzero coupling does not solve the sourced Maxwell equation; when λ=0, this particular current obstruction is absent.
