How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Shear mode has zero periodic pressure
Example
Assume Countable Choice and let , , and on , where is the first coordinate vector. Then is smooth and divergence-free, , and its unique mean-zero pressure recovered by is . This is a verification of the pressure recovery map; it is not asserted to solve an unforced viscous Navier–Stokes equation.

Facts & Assumptions
Given: The hypotheses and conventions stated in the formulation.
The Axiom of Countable Choice (): Countable Choice is assumed for the periodic Fourier coefficient and pressure recovery framework.
Periodic fluid Fourier Sobolev spaces: the torus coordinates have period and the real Fourier convention is fixed by conjugate-symmetric coefficients.
Pressure recovery for periodic incompressible Sobolev velocity: for divergence-free , , is the unique mean-zero pressure satisfying the projected convection identity.
Verification
Given: Countable Choice, , and .
The only nonzero component is and it is independent of , so . Also . The field is a finite Fourier sum and hence belongs to every .
Choose any . By [F3], is the unique mean-zero periodic distribution satisfying the projected convection identity. By step 1.1 the convection is zero, so the zero distribution also satisfies that identity, since ; it is mean-zero. Uniqueness in [F3] therefore gives .
