How statement and proof provenance work

The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.

  • Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
  • AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
  • AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.

These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.

An exact raw one-instanton block

Example

Let V=C, W=C2 with their standard Hermitian forms, and let ρ>0. Take B1=B2=0,I=(ρ,0):W→V,J=(0,ρ)T:V→W. Both ADHM moments vanish. The associated homogeneous monad maps on P3 are α=(−μ1−μ2ρλ2ρλ1),β=(μ2,−μ1,ρλ1,−ρλ2). For z=(z1,z2)∈C2, put Dz=(z2−z1ρ0−zˉ1−zˉ20ρ),fz=∣z1∣2+∣z2∣2+ρ2. Then DzDz†=fzI2. The orthogonal projection Pz=I4−Dz†fz−1Dz has image ker⁡Dz, a rank-two Hermitian bundle over R4. Its projection connection is ∇=P d. Set z1=x0+ix1, z2=x2+ix3, equip R4 with the Euclidean metric g=∑μ=03(dxμ)2, and orient it by vol⁡g=dx0∧dx1∧dx2∧dx3. The Hodge star ∗g on real two-forms is the unique linear map satisfying η∧∗gξ=⟨η,ξ⟩gvol⁡g for all real two-forms η,ξ; extend it complex-linearly and coefficientwise to End⁡(C4)-valued two-forms. If F∇ is the curvature of ∇, define its self-dual part by F∇+=12(F∇+∗gF∇). For this metric and orientation, the curvature satisfies F∇+=0. The monad is trivial and positive on every real line, and its infinity framing is the identity framing by W.

Facts & Assumptions

Given: The standard Hermitian spaces V=C, W=C2 and the real parameter ρ>0.

[F1]

The raw moments are μC=[B1,B2]+IJ and μR=[B1,B1†]+[B2,B2†]+II†−J†J; stability is the word-span condition and costability excludes a nonzero common invariant subspace in ker⁡J. The unitary gauge action is (B1,B2,I,J)↦(gB1g−1,gB2g−1,gI,Jg−1). ADHM linear data, stability, costability and FI levels

[F2]

The raw homogeneous maps have βα=λ12μC+λ1λ2μR−λ22μC†, and regular zero-moment data give full homogeneous rank and the associated linear bundle monad. Raw monad full rank and ADHM regularity

[F3]

The finite monad resolution gives c2top(F)=kHtop2. The charge supplier defines the twistor projection by π([v])=span⁡C(v,ȷv) with fibers the real incidence lines and proves π∗u=Htop2 in the positive orientation; the charge on S4 is conditional on the topological pullback. Chern character and charge normalization of a linear twistor monad

[F4]

The curvature of a connection is its square; in a local frame it is dω+ω∧ω. Curvature of a vector-bundle connection

Proof

Given: The data in the Example.

1.1givenF1algebra

Since B1=B2=0, one has μC=IJ=(ρ,0)(0,ρ)T=0 and μR=II†−J†J=ρ2−ρ2=0. The nonzero map I has image V, so its word span is V and the datum is stable. The nonzero map J:V→W is injective, so ker⁡J=0 and the datum is costable. Thus it is regular.

2.1F2step 1.1algebra

Substitution in the raw homogeneous formulas gives the displayed α and β. Direct multiplication gives βα=−μ1μ2+μ1μ2+ρ2λ1λ2−ρ2λ1λ2=0, equivalently the zero-moment polynomial in [F2]. At infinity these maps restrict to α=(−μ1,−μ2,0,0)T and β=(μ2,−μ1,0,0), whose middle cohomology is the last two coordinates W with its identity framing. The middle standard Hermitian form is positive.

2.2givenstep 1.1algebra

On the real line over z, the incidence equations give α=azλ1+bzλ2 and β=bz†λ1−az†λ2, where az=(−z1,−z2,0,ρ)T,bz=(zˉ2,−zˉ1,ρ,0)T. Multiplication gives az†az=bz†bz=fz and bz†az=0. Thus az,bz are orthogonal isometric copies after rescaling by fz−1/2. Their common orthogonal complement Ez=(im⁡az⊕im⁡bz)⊥ has dimension two. The line complex on the first two copies is the Euler complex VO(−1)→(V⊕V)O→VO(1) and is exact at its ends with zero middle cohomology; the complementary term is EzO. Hence the line bundle is trivial and its section pairing is the standard positive form on Ez. Since Dz has rows bz†,az†, Ez=ker⁡Dz. Finally direct multiplication gives DzDz†=fzI2; because ρ>0, fz>0 at every z.

3.1F4step 2.2algebra

The matrix Pz=I4−Dz†fz−1Dz is Hermitian and Pz2=Pz, since DzDz†=fzI2. Also DzPz=0 and Pz acts as the identity on ker⁡Dz, so it is the orthogonal projection onto that rank-two kernel. The connection ∇=P d is unitary. Differentiating DP=0 and its adjoint, and using DD†=fI2, gives F∇=P(dP∧dP)P=P dD†f−1∧dD P. Here the equality follows by writing dP in the off-diagonal blocks for C4=ker⁡D⊕im⁡D†; each off-diagonal block is respectively −D†f−1dDP and −PdD†f−1D, whose product inserts DD†=fI2.

4.1step 3.1algebra

In the coordinates of the Example, dD=(dz2−dz100−dzˉ1−dzˉ200). The only nonzero block of dD†∧dD is its upper-left 2×2 block: (−2iθ12(θ2−iθ3)−2(θ2+iθ3)2iθ1), where θ1=dx0∧dx1−dx2∧dx3,θ2=dx0∧dx2+dx1∧dx3,θ3=dx0∧dx3−dx1∧dx2. For the stated positive orientation, direct use of the Hodge-star definition gives ∗gθi=−θi for each i. Every coefficient of dD†∧dD is therefore anti-self-dual. The scalar fz−1 and the degree-zero matrix factors Pz in step 3.1 only take linear combinations of these coefficient forms, so ∗gF∇=−F∇ and F∇+=0. No sign convention from a differently oriented stereographic chart is used.

5.1F1F3step 1.1step 2.1step 2.2algebra∎

The residual U(1) action sends I↦gI and J↦Jg−1; it preserves the raw representative's orbit, and its stabilizer is trivial because gI=I with I≠0 forces g=1. The framed W coordinates at infinity are fixed, so they introduce no extra unitary factor. The finite monad resolution and [F3] give c2(F)=H2, the unit charge under the positive incidence pullback condition. The example verifies an exact one-instanton block with no singularity because fz never vanishes.
