How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Canonical mean and variance for a two-level system
Facts & Assumptions
Given: As stated in the item.
Countable canonical model: the finite partition sum and normalized state weights are defined as stated there.
Summable canonical differentiation: a finite energy list has the required local summable moment envelope on every compact parameter interval (each of finitely many terms is bounded there), so is the mean and is the variance.
, , , and .
Example
Let the state set be , with energies , , unit weights, and . Writing , the excited-state probability is , the mean energy is , and the energy variance is .
Verification
Given: The finite canonical model [F1] with data [A1].
Direct summation gives , hence and .
The finite weighted sum gives . The second centered moment is , which is positive because . The values also agree with the finite-list derivative identities of [F2].
