How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.

Statement
Assume countable choice: every countable family of nonempty sets has a choice function. Let be an open interval, let be a bounded open region with boundary (locally a graph with the region on one side), and let be an open neighborhood of . Let have orientation-preserving diffeomorphic time slices onto open images (bijections with inverses and positive Jacobian determinant). Here means all coordinate partial derivatives through order are continuous, and set . Let be a scalar field on an open neighborhood of . Define the boundary velocity by and let be the outward Euclidean unit normal on . Use Euclidean surface measure, whose chart density is . Then For vector-valued , the identity holds componentwise. No condition equating with a fluid velocity is required.

Facts & Assumptions
Given: Countable choice, the stated family of orientation-preserving diffeomorphisms, bounded reference region, and scalar field defined near the swept closures.
The Axiom of Countable Choice (): countable choice means that every countable family of nonempty sets admits a choice function.
C1 material regions have compatible Jordan volume integrals: a bounded open region and its compact closure have matching integrals for continuous fields; its compact closure is Jordan measurable.
Smooth transport, Jacobian and advected reference density: for a compact Jordan reference set and a scalar field, differentiation of the integral under a orientation-preserving motion gives .
Divergence on a bounded C1 Euclidean domain: under countable choice, a bounded domain and a vector field that is on its closure satisfy .
Proof
If , then for every , all integrals are zero, and the asserted identity holds without applying the divergence theorem. Henceforth suppose . Fix and put . By [F1], is compact Jordan and integration over agrees with integration over . Translate time by and apply [F2] to the translated motion and field. Since the Eulerian velocity of that motion is , the derivative at is The argument applies to every .
The field is on a neighborhood of . Apply [F3] and use to obtain the stated formula. Apply this scalar argument to each component when is vector-valued.
