How statement and proof provenance work

The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.

  • Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
  • AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
  • AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.

These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.

Proper-orthochronous Poincaré pullbacks act continuously on Schwartz space

Statement

For every g∈P+↑, the pullback Tgf(x)=f(g−1x) of Proper-orthochronous Poincaré action and test pullback maps S=S(R4;C) continuously to itself. For each fixed f∈S, the map g↦Tgf from P+↑ to S is continuous. Consequently, αg(f1⊗⋯⊗fn):=Tgf1⊗⋯⊗Tgfn extends algebraically to a unital star-automorphism of the algebraic tensor test algebra Positive tempered moments on the tensor test algebra, and αgαh=αgh. No topology on the algebraic direct sum is asserted.

Facts & Assumptions

Given: P+↑ and Tg as in Proper-orthochronous Poincaré action and test pullback, S=S(R4;C), and the algebraic tensor test algebra of Positive tempered moments on the tensor test algebra.

[F1]

Proper-orthochronous Poincaré action and test pullback: g=(Λ,a) acts by Tgf(x)=f(Λ−1(x−a)), and the group has its matrix/translation topology.

[F2]

Schwartz space and its seminorms: the seminorms are pαβ(f)=sup⁡x∣xα∂βf(x)∣.

[F3]

Schwartz topology and convergence: neighborhoods constrain only finitely many such seminorms.

[F4]

Positive tempered moments on the tensor test algebra: T(S) has finite sums, concatenation product, and the involution reverses tensor order and conjugates the factors.

Proof

1.1F1F2algebra

Fix g=(Λ,a). The affine chain rule expresses each ∂β(Tgf)(x) as a finite sum cβγ(Λ)(∂γf)(Λ−1(x−a)), where ∣γ∣=∣β∣ and the coefficients are polynomials in the entries of Λ−1. Substituting y=Λ−1(x−a) gives x=Λy+a; expanding each monomial xα therefore bounds every pαβ(Tgf) by a finite sum of Schwartz seminorms of f with coefficients depending on g. Hence Tgf∈S and Tg:S→S is a continuous linear map.

For g near e, put εg:=∥Λ−1−I∥+∣Λ−1a∣ and yt:=(I+t(Λ−1−I))x−tΛ−1a for 0≤t≤1. Choose the neighborhood so ∥t(Λ−1−I)∥<1/2 for every t; the geometric series for the inverse then gives ∥(I+t(Λ−1−I))−1∥≤2. Thus 1+∣x∣≤C(1+∣yt∣) uniformly in x,t,g. Writing δg(x):=(Λ−1−I)x−Λ−1a, the fundamental theorem of calculus gives ∂βf(y1)−∂βf(x)=∫01∑j=14∂β+ejf(yt) δg,j(x) dt. Here ∣δg,j(x)∣≤εg(1+∣x∣). After multiplying by xα, the weight comparison bounds the absolute value by Cαβεg times a finite sum of seminorms pγ,β+ej(f) with ∣γ∣≤∣α∣+1: expand (1+∣yt∣)∣α∣+1 into finitely many coordinate monomials and use the definition of each seminorm. In step 1.1 the chain-rule coefficients are polynomials in Λ−1 and tend to their identity coefficients as g→e; their differences are bounded by Cαβεg, while each remaining weighted derivative is bounded by finitely many Schwartz seminorms using the same comparison. Therefore pαβ(Tgf−f)→0 for every α,β as g→e. By [F3] this is convergence in the Schwartz topology.

For any g0, the group law gives Tgf=Tg0(Tg0−1gf). Step 2.1 and continuity of the fixed map Tg0 from step 1.1 show Tgf→Tg0f as g→g0. Thus the pullback is continuous in the group parameter everywhere. The universal property of algebraic tensor products defines αg on each tensor degree; concatenation, conjugation, reversal, and TgTh=Tgh give the unital star-automorphism and action identities.
