How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Specified bosonic scalar and CAR Dirac model adoption
A selected, noninteracting real scalar and Dirac field model on four-dimensional affine Minkowski spacetime, with a chosen vacuum and bosonic symmetric-Fock and fermionic CAR-Fock representations. The assignments are model assumptions; no interacting continuum theory, empirical result, or general spin-statistics theorem is asserted.
Postulate
Fix four-dimensional affine Minkowski spacetime with metric , an inertial length-coordinate chart , , and coordinates measured in metres, as specified by Quantum field quantities and compatible SI normalizations. Write . The mass-shell parameter has unit and has the same unit. For a massive species, ; is the separately admitted massless branch of the mathematical free-field construction. Thus is physical energy and is physical momentum. The natural-unit action is written .
The scalar one-particle space is , where and ; at the measure-zero apex is omitted. These are the shell conventions of Smeared free scalar field and its Poincare representation.
For a smooth real classical scalar with the canonical free-field length degree , adopt For a smooth commuting classical Dirac spinor with canonical free-field length degree , put and use the Clifford convention from Quantum field quantities and compatible SI normalizations. Adopt The smooth classical variables in these functionals commute; no Grassmann algebra or path-integral construction is being adopted. These formulas specify local action densities: for arbitrary smooth global fields the total integrals need not converge. Only compactly supported variations are used; the action difference under such a variation is an integral over a compact set and is finite for smooth fields. With these variations on the fixed background, the intended Euler–Lagrange equations are and , conditional on the exact mathematical supplier recorded as [L1] below.
As the physical interpretation of this selected free model, assign the real scalar species to the bosonic symmetric Fock representation and assign the Dirac field to the particle/antiparticle CAR representation on . Choose the zero-particle Fock vectors as the scalar and Dirac vacuum states. This is an adopted species and statistics assignment. The CCR/CAR and operator properties of the specified representations are mathematical model consequences; they do not prove a general spin-statistics theorem or establish that nature realizes this model.
The scalar construction is the Schwartz-smeared field on the finite-particle domain, with the future-shell phase , exactly as in Smeared free scalar field and its Poincare representation. The Dirac construction is the bounded spacetime-smeared CAR field of Smeared free Dirac CAR fields and graded locality, using the positive and negative projections of the specified free Dirac matrix. In that carrier, , , and ; the particle and antiparticle one-particle spaces are the closed ranges and . These carriers state their mathematical hypotheses and construction domains; their draft status is not an independent physics or proof approval.
Tong's lecture notes and Srednicki's book draft provide independent presentations of the scalar and Dirac free-field formulations. Their formal mode notation supplies context for this adoption, not a proof of the operator-domain claims and not evidence that the adopted model describes nature.
Facts & Assumptions
Given: This item adopts a specified model; it does not infer the model from empirical observations.
The scalar-to-bosonic-Fock and Dirac-to-CAR-Fock species assignments, the chosen zero-particle vectors, and the absence of interactions are physical model assumptions in this postulate.
Quantum field quantities and compatible SI normalizations fixes the signature, length coordinates, inverse-length wave numbers, the conversion when the rest mass is positive, and the canonical field dimensions.
The mathematical constructions used here assume , the Axiom of Countable Choice The Axiom of Countable Choice ().
Smeared free scalar field and its Poincare representation assumes and ; it defines on the future shell and the scalar field on the common finite-particle domain, with real-test symmetry and the stated vacuum two-point function. Its current Step 1 decision is escalated because its QFT-MF01 prerequisites remain unresolved.
Smeared free Dirac CAR fields and graded locality assumes , , the fixed Fourier conventions, and the specified Dirac projections; it constructs a bounded smeared CAR field and proves the stated tested Dirac equation and graded-locality conclusions. Its current Step 1 decision is escalated because its QFT-MF01/QFT-MF02 supplier edges remain open.
Classical free action variations and normalization fixes , the metric, , the Dirac matrices and adjoint, and the same normalized scalar and commuting-spinor Lagrangian densities displayed above. For compactly supported smooth real scalar variation and complex spinor variation , it gives the finite first variations and , without assuming global integrability of the background fields. Its complete proof establishes both directions of stationarity iff the scalar and Dirac equations hold pointwise, and derives the adjoint Dirac equation. The current Step 1 record is ready with a dependency list matching the carrier. The shell and Dirac convention suppliers remain drafts, so this use is conditional on their exact current interfaces; the readiness record is not independent approval.
