How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Canonical quantum thermal preparation
Adopted nonzero finite-dimensional or trace-class canonical Gibbs preparation at positive temperature under the exact trace and moment hypotheses; no bath dynamics, thermalization, or experimental claim is asserted.
Postulate
Adopt canonical preparation as follows. Fix the positive Boltzmann constant in J/K. Let act on a finite-dimensional complex Hilbert space of dimension , or be self-adjoint on a nonzero separable Hilbert space, bounded below and satisfying for in an open interval about the chosen value. For temperature , put and adopt In the infinite-dimensional case all scalar energy moments used in a conclusion must also be finite on the actual spectral domain, as required by Self-adjoint trace-Gibbs normalization and form-energy optimization. With in joules, in J/K, in K, and in J, the exponent is dimensionless and is a dimensionless trace.
This is an adopted preparation rule in the normal-state framework. It is not a theorem that unitary dynamics equilibrates, does not specify a bath or equilibration time, and makes no empirical claim. The finite and trace-Gibbs variational results describe the mathematical optimization associated with this state but do not establish that a physical system is prepared in it.
