How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Local energy balance for an insulated continuum body
A rigid, fixed-composition, nonrelativistic continuum body on the rectangular domain of def-td-rectangular-local-equilibrium-fields, with no volumetric energy source, no matter flux, and insulated outer faces.
Postulate
For a field record on from Rectangular local-equilibrium field data, require the supplied heat-flux field and each of its first spatial partial derivatives to extend continuously to for every compact interval . Thus is the classical coordinate divergence in , and denotes its continuous trace on each closed face. For these records, adopt the local balance and the insulated-boundary condition on every face of . Both terms in the local equation have units . The boundary condition says that no heat energy crosses the body's outer faces in this model.
This local continuum balance is an additional adopted postulate, with the sign and energy convention of First-law energy balance for closed process records. It is not deduced from that global process-record balance. Matter transfer, volume work, internal sources, moving boundaries, and external-field energy require separately specified balance models and are outside this item.
