How statement and proof provenance work

The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.

  • Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
  • AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
  • AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.

These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.

Local-equilibrium caloric entropy density

Physical scope

Fixed-composition local-equilibrium patches of the rigid continuum model; this caloric relation is not asserted for arbitrary nonequilibrium states or every thermodynamic material.

Postulate

For the local-equilibrium medium of Rectangular local-equilibrium field data, adopt a local entropy-density map s:T→R measured in J m−3 K−1 with dsdT(T)=c(T)T, where c(T)=u′(T)>0 is the volumetric heat capacity and T>0 is measured in kelvins. Equivalently, for a fixed reference Tref∈T and reference density sref∈R in J m−3 K−1, set s(T)=sref+∫TrefTc(θ)θ dθ. The volume integral of this field is the entropy assigned by this continuum model. This adopts a local thermodynamic relation extending the macroscopic entropy framework of Concave macroscopic fundamental entropy; it does not prove that every evolving medium has such a local entropy density or identify it with an arbitrary finite-system entropy function.

For constant c(T)=c0>0, the adopted relation gives s(T)=sref+c0log⁡(T/Tref). This is a restricted constitutive specialization, not a universal equation of state.
