How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.

Statement
Let on a nonempty open interval , where are lengths in metres, is a time in seconds, and are dimensionless exponents. These are called Kasner exponents for this power-law branch; define their sums and . For a nonstatic datum, meaning that not all vanish, the geometric vacuum equation in the curvature definition of this page holds exactly when . If all , then the full curvature tensor vanishes, so the metric is flat in the curvature sense. These are exact statements about the specified finite-dimensional metrics; no singularity or generic cosmological conclusion follows.

Facts & Assumptions
Given: A diagonal Bianchi I datum, the power-law scale factors in the Statement, and the mathematical vacuum condition where invoked. The inherited foundational context assumes only.
The Bianchi I product and quotient construction carries and no stronger choice principle (Diagonal Bianchi I model).
The scale factors are positive lengths on , and the definitions of , and are those of the diagonal Bianchi I datum (Diagonal Bianchi I model).
The local Ricci components are and , with zero off-diagonal components; the only potentially nonzero curvature components are the two displayed families (Curvature components of the diagonal Bianchi I metric).
Proof
Work in the inherited context [A1]; the calculation itself uses only finite sums and differentiation. Put and . The power laws give , , and , so [F2] yields and .
Suppose not all vanish and . Choose an index with . Since are positive, the equation from step 1.1 implies . The equation then implies .
Conversely, if , step 1.1 makes every diagonal Ricci component zero, and [F2] makes every off-diagonal component zero; hence .
If , then every and is zero. Both curvature-component families in [F2] therefore vanish, and every other component is zero by that lemma, so the full curvature tensor vanishes.
