How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.

Facts & Assumptions
Given: The manifold, metric, future-directed tetrad, coframe, and -skew connection specified in the Statement.
Assume (The Axiom of Countable Choice ()).
Local Lorentz tetrad and connection: and is the local metric-compatibility condition.
Existence and uniqueness of the metric-selected connection of a nondegenerate metric, and its extension to tensor fields: every smooth nondegenerate metric has a unique torsion-free metric-compatible affine connection.
The exterior derivative is a graded derivation: for homogeneous differential forms of degree and , .
The exterior derivative squares to zero: for every differential form .
Proof
For smooth vector fields on , evaluating exterior derivative and the wedge product gives . Since , the connection definition gives ; the corresponding formula with exchanged shows . Thus all coframe torsion forms vanish exactly when the induced affine-connection torsion vanishes.
Write and , so . By [F3] applied componentwise and [F4], differentiating gives and then The same graded product rule gives Expanding and substituting these identities cancels the terms and leaves , hence . Also [F3] gives and , hence .
Restrict the unique Levi-Civita connection supplied by [F2] to . Its connection coefficients in are smooth; metric compatibility and the constant frame metric give . Its tangent torsion is zero, so step 1.1 makes every zero. This proves existence of an -skew solution.
Conversely, an -skew induces a metric-compatible connection. For and , the connection terms in are after interchanging the summed indices in the first term and using ; the remaining terms equal . If also , step 1.1 gives zero tangent torsion. By uniqueness in [F2], this connection is the Levi-Civita connection. Hence the solution from step 2.1 is unique, and the displayed torsion equation is equivalent to torsion-freeness.
Steps 1.1–3.1 establish the torsion equivalence and unique Levi-Civita identification; step 1.2 establishes both transformation laws.
