How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Wave multiplier divergence identity
A differential identity for a real test scalar on a fixed smooth Lorentzian background; it asserts no decay or coupled gravitational response.
Statement
Assume . Let be a time-oriented smooth Lorentzian four-manifold, let be open, let , and let be a smooth vector field on . For the tensor and multiplier covector defined from the metric-selected connection,
Consequently, when and is Killing, the multiplier current has zero divergence.

Facts & Assumptions
Given: The smooth Lorentzian background, open set, scalar field, vector field, and assumption in the Statement.
Existence and uniqueness of the metric-selected connection of a nondegenerate metric, and its extension to tensor fields: , the metric-selected connection is torsion-free, and its tensor derivative obeys the product rule and commutes with metric contractions.
Killing fields of a Lorentzian metric: is Killing precisely when .
Killing fields and conserved currents, and on-shell conservation of the Hilbert stress-energy tensor: for the metric-selected torsion-free connection, .
is the only choice principle assumed for the smooth tangent-bundle and connection conventions used by [F2] (The Axiom of Countable Choice ()).
Proof
Differentiate the definition of using from [F2]: . Since is a scalar and the connection is torsion-free, ; after relabelling the contracted index, the last two terms cancel. Thus .
Apply the product rule to and substitute step 1.1: .
The tensor is symmetric by [F1]. Therefore by [F4], which proves the displayed identity.
If and is Killing, the first term in the identity vanishes by the equation and the second vanishes by [F3]. Hence . This is a conditional model identity, not a decay estimate.
