How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.

Statement
Assume AC, the ultrafilter extension principle, DC, and HB, and the superstable regular model and Poisson conventions of Superstable regular continuum grand pressure and variational formula, with stationary finite-intensity law space , intensity , specific entropy , and energy density as there defined. Let be an interval of positive length and define with the supremum of an empty set equal to and the infimum of an empty set equal to . If and , define Then has positive Poisson probability for all sufficiently large , and Let be the periodized empirical field of Periodized empirical field of a finite configuration, and let . Define For put ; at put . Then there are and for which the empirical fields under the conditional law and the matching periodic grand-canonical law concentrate in every open neighborhood of . If this minimizer set is a singleton, both empirical fields converge to it in probability in . For a finite-volume law and arbitrary event , define . Concentration and convergence in probability here mean for every stated open neighborhood ; on measurable events this is ordinary probability. The law-space evaluation sigma-algebra is generated by for measurable configuration events . These are empirical-field conclusions. The periodically continued conditional and grand laws also converge in under the same uniqueness assumption, for all measurable local observables of at-most-linear count growth. The energy constraint is an upper event and is nondegenerate; this does not assert exact , a shrinking shell, or a singular energy surface. In the branch the finite periodic weight is explicitly times the indicator that no displacement between the configuration and any periodic image lies in ; no value is assigned to .
Facts & Assumptions
Given: AC, the ultrafilter extension principle, DC, HB, and a superstable regular pair potential, positive-beta finite-volume definitions or the stated retained-admissibility zero-beta continuation, a nondegenerate density interval and strict energy feasibility.
Assume The Axiom of Choice, The ultrafilter extension principle (UL/BPI), The axiom of dependent choice: a relation in which every element is related to something admits an -indexed chain, and The real dominated-extension principle as an additional hypothesis over ZF, as required by the compactness and variational suppliers.

Georgii's published Theorem 4 (1994, Section 7, equations (2.32)–(2.33)) assumes a superstable regular pair potential, a nondegenerate density interval with , and . Its is the infimum of over stationary finite-entropy laws of density , hence equals here; our only ranges over finite-energy laws and so gives a condition at least as strong as the source's density condition. The theorem yields a finite supporting activity and a nonnegative multiplier , the common variational-minimizer accumulation result, and the periodic upper-energy event exponent. The displayed Theorem 4 on printed p.177 explicitly includes ; it asserts the stated raw-law accumulation conclusion, while empirical-field concentration is left to a separate argument (printed p.178). The retained weight convention is made explicit locally here. The theorem statement and its Section 7 proof were read in the published version.
Georgii–Zessin, Theorem 3.1, gives the Poisson-reference large-deviation upper and lower bounds for stationary empirical fields in the local topology, with rate the specific relative entropy . Its upper bound applies to closed sets and its proof is in Section 5.3. For the present application, is the stationary empirical field, , and for finite periodic energy (Georgii 1994, equation (2.16)). These are the Poisson empirical-field bounds used for event and conditional empirical-field upper estimates; they are separate from Theorem 4's nonnegative-multiplier raw-law conclusion.
Georgii's Theorem 2 (1994, Sections 3–5) gives the good local-topology large-deviation principle for the periodized empirical field under the positive-, positive-activity periodic grand law, with rate and zero set the variational minimizers. Its hypotheses include superstability and regularity and its proof was read in full.
Proof
Given: The hypotheses and suppliers in Facts & Assumptions.
Define and . For stationary finite-entropy laws , the binary-mixture chain rule on a bounded cube gives , with . Divide by and use [F4]; the label entropy vanishes, so is affine on finite mixtures. The expectation and finite-volume energy expectations are affine, hence their limits are affine where finite. Mixtures of feasible laws show is convex and concave. If and , choose near-minimizers with bounded . Compactness [F2] gives a convergent subsequence; continuity of by [F6] and lower semicontinuity of in [F1] show the limit is feasible with entropy no greater than the liminf. Thus is lower semicontinuous and upper semicontinuous; the same compactness argument attains every finite infimum. For strict feasibility, choose in the interior of below with a finite-energy, finite-entropy law . The inequality gives and a finite-entropy law with . If is at an endpoint of , mix with a sufficiently small positive amount of ; affinity of keeps the energy below and moves the density into the interior of .
Establish the approximation needed when the supporting energy coefficient vanishes. Fix with . Regularity makes bounded. Fix a corridor width greater than its maximum-norm radius and the two-sided tail cutoff. For integer , let be the event that all distinct pairs in have maximum-norm separation at least and energy at most . Simplicity, local finiteness and imply as . Choose positive integers with , and put independent copies of in cores , , leaving the corridors empty. Average the phase uniformly over and call the stationary law . Minimum separation bounds the particle number in each core by a finite packing bound depending on ; the pair-energy cutoff bounds its internal positive energy. Every cross-core displacement lies beyond the cutoff, so the summable envelope [F10] and the core particle bound make the absolute cross energy per tile finite. Thus and . Write . For and , expanding the conditioned density and using where gives . Independence, the Poisson void cost of the corridors, and convexity under phase averaging imply Indeed, on a large observation cube entropy is bounded by the sum of entropies of the intersecting independent tiles; boundary tiles contribute for fixed , and [F4] gives this bound. Hence . For any bounded local support , translate , and , stationarity gives . Integrability makes this uniformly small, first as and then . Thus conditioning changes expectations of translated local tame tests by a quantity tending to zero, uniformly when their support stays in one core. The fraction of phases whose support meets a corridor or two cores is ; there the uniform bound controls the count contribution, where is obtained by covering the at most core portions of by a fixed number of translated unit cells for all larger than the diameter of . Their contribution also tends to zero. Therefore in , in particular .
For the lower event bound, take a stationary law with , , and . The cell inequality [F11], stationarity, and imply a uniform bound on for large integer , hence on . They also give a uniform bound on , since the negative part is at most . Choose with . For each sufficiently large , let and . Markov's inequality gives . On , the cell inequality and give , where is the positive root bound for . The count-density loss under conditioning tends to zero by Cauchy–Schwarz and the uniform second-moment bound. The conditional expected energy density has limsup at most because the removed energy is positive. The entropy conditioning formula gives , where is Euler's number, so the conditioned block entropy per volume is at most . Choose with and set , increasing further so is large enough for the specific entropy and energy limits above. Then and . In a large periodic cube of side , put cores per coordinate, each of side , on a periodic grid of exact spacing . Thus every core is separated from every other core and its periodic images by at least , and the unoccupied fraction tends to . Put independent conditioned blocks in the cores and leave the complement empty. For two core indices at maximum-norm distance , the total absolute cross energy per core is at most , so its contribution per unit volume is at most by [F10], including the periodic image interactions across the outer boundary. The iid law of core counts and core energies gives the required density and within-core energy laws of large numbers; since the cross-energy error is uniformly bounded by , for large fixed the product block law assigns probability tending to one to as , with density in and energy below by strict margins. Relative to the Poisson reference on , the product block law has log density equal to the sum of the iid block log densities plus the corridor volume (the Poisson void cost). The block log density is integrable because its relative entropy is finite; truncation followed by the ordinary weak law gives its average limit. Therefore its typical log density per volume is at most as . On the intersection of with this typical set, changing measure back to gives . If a minimizing law lies on a constraint boundary, mix it with a strict feasible law; entropy affinity and lower semicontinuity show that the entropy infimum is unchanged. This proves the lower event bound and eventual positivity.
Put . The set is closed by [F1], lower semicontinuity of , and continuity of in . It is also evaluation-measurable: is the integral of a measurable local count, and is the countable integer-cube limit of finite-volume measurable energy expectations on its stated domain. These expectations are measurable by simple-function approximation of positive and negative parts, with stability controlling the negative part. Thus both constraint preimages are measurable. Likewise is closed and evaluation-measurable: it is the countable intersection, over integer cubes, of zero-probability conditions for bounded measurable local forbidden-pair events. For every configuration with finite , the periodized empirical field satisfies by [F7] and by Georgii's periodic-energy identity (1994, equation (2.16)); hence . The Poisson empirical-field upper bound of [L2], applied to this closed set, gives where is the minimum in the Statement. Together with step 2.1 this proves the event exponent. The exact periodic empirical field accounts for all long-range image interactions in this upper bound; no fixed empty corridor is used to discard them.
The tangent-plane argument in published [L1] separates the strict-feasibility constraint set in finite dimension [F3]. It supplies a finite and a nonnegative coefficient . When , the constrained entropy minimizers lie in the positive-beta grand variational minimizer set. To spell out the compatible retained-admissibility interpretation when the supporting coefficient is zero, write and let be a contact point. A supporting plane with energy coefficient gives for every finite-energy pair ; equivalently, every stationary finite-energy law satisfies . Equality holds at the constrained minimizers in contact. Any law in with finite is approximated in and density by finite-energy separated-block laws with , by step 1.2. Passing the inequality to the limit shows it holds on all of ; equality at a constrained minimizer identifies the same global minimum there. The finite-volume zero-beta weight remains throughout.
Let be an open neighborhood of the common grand minimizer set . That set is compact by [F1] for and [F9] for . Each member has a basic neighborhood contained in , given by finitely many strict inequalities in local tame expectations. Each expectation is evaluation-measurable by truncation and simple-function approximation. A finite subcover gives an open evaluation-measurable with . The set is closed and measurable by step 3.1. Its entropy infimum is strictly larger than : otherwise a sequence with in a compact entropy sublevel [F2] has a limit in that is a constrained minimizer, hence in by step 4.1, a contradiction. The measurable-set upper bound [L2] gives Since , division by the event probability from step 3.1 bounds the conditional outer probability outside by a quantity tending to zero. For the positive-beta grand law, apply the good-rate upper bound [L3] to the measurable closed set ; compact rate sublevels and its zero set inside give a strict positive gap. For the retained zero-beta grand law, its numerator outside is bounded by the Poisson integral of , where . Apply the measurable Laplace upper bound [L2] with the functional equal to on and elsewhere. It is lower semicontinuous, evaluation-measurable and bounded below by . For , apply the bounded-test entropy inequality [F5] to truncations of and use the Poisson formula . Removing the truncation, dividing by , and taking the integer-cube limit [F4] gives . Choosing shows that a bounded sublevel of has bounded . This rate is lower semicontinuous since is and is continuous; together with the closedness of and [F2], this proves compact sublevels. Its infimum on is therefore strictly larger than its global minimum. The denominator rate from [F9] cancels that global minimum. Thus this grand outer probability also tends to zero. Empty complement sets make the estimates immediate. A singleton minimizer gives convergence in probability in the stated outer sense in both branches.
The conditional law is torus-invariant and its entropy density is , which is bounded by the event limit. The matching grand law is torus-invariant as well. At positive beta its entropy density is bounded by the pressure identity, the superstable lower energy bound, and the Poisson entropy count inequality; at zero beta use the same identity with the hard indicator and omit the energy term. Consequently [F8] applies. Its transfer result converts step 5.1 into convergence of the periodically continued laws for every local tame observable under uniqueness. No zero extension outside the fundamental cube is used.
