How statement and proof provenance work

The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.

  • Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
  • AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
  • AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.

These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.

Single-block sparse covariance class and restricted directions

Definition

For S⊆[p], let G(S):={A=AT∈Rp×p:Aij=0 whenever i∉S or j∉S}, and, for an integer 1≤s≤p, let G(s):=⋃S⊆[p]∣S∣≤sG(S),Fp,s(M):={Σ∈Fp(M):Σ−diag⁡(Σ)∈G(s)}. Here diag⁡(Σ) is the diagonal matrix with the same diagonal entries as Σ. Thus all nonzero off-diagonal entries lie in one common coordinate block of size at most s; no row-sparsity condition is implied.

For S⊆[p], define VS:={u∈Rp:∥u∥2=1, ui=0 for i∉S}. When 1≤s≤p/2, the restricted direction set is Us:=⋃S⊆[p]∣S∣=2sVS.

Dependency tree · two levels

7 results within two dependency steps of this one, each drawn at its shortest distance from it. An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
