How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
The Khovanov map assigned to a generic surface movie
Definition
Assume countable choice and fix a generic movie of a smooth oriented surface cobordism from an oriented link to an oriented link . For each regular frame , let be the normalized integral Khovanov homology group. The empty frame has the one-term complex in both gradings zero, using the empty resolution and the zero-fold tensor product. Associate to a birth the unit map , ; associate to a death the counit , ; and associate to a saddle the multiplication when two resolution circles merge, or the comultiplication when one splits. Each local map is tensored with the identity on unaffected circles. Associate to planar isotopy the induced identification of the cube complexes. For Reidemeister moves, use the following fixed Bar-Natan constructions: the kink retractions , , , ; the two inverse-crossing strong retractions with degree-zero inclusion and projection , with their specified reverse-order cube signs; and the third-move equivalences obtained by the explicit source- or target-cone retractions onto the common six-point residual complex. Here are circle birth/death, are punctured-torus birth/death, and the saddle letters denote the actual local bands in these constructions. Use their specified inverses for the reversed moves. Insert these formal surface matrices into the fixed planar outside of the diagram, then apply the integral Frobenius cobordism functor. Normalize a state to cochain degree and quantum shift . Fix the local coordinate identifications and orientation cases once, with the Koszul crossing-order correction when crossings are interchanged. These local maps are chosen once; composing them with an arbitrary automorphism of a complex is not an allowed change of representative. Compose the induced maps on homology in movie order and denote the result by , considered modulo multiplication by . This definition fixes a movie; independence from changing the movie is not included in the definition.

33 results within two dependency steps of this one, each drawn at its shortest distance from it. An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
