How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Finite row-preparation access model for a Szegedy walk
Definition
For a nonempty finite row-stochastic kernel , a row-preparation access model supplies an explicit bijection ; write for the image of under this bijection. Every ket below denotes the basis vector . The model supplies a finite work register with a specified clean unit vector and a unitary on the ordered register product satisfying
The state encoding and its description are part of the supplied circuit interface and are included in the circuit description or uniform generator. The model separately declares access and costs for the forward call , inverse call , controlled , controlled , a direct range-reflection call, controlled range-reflection access, the clean-state reflection , controlled , the swap on the first two registers, and controlled swap access. The clean-state reflection is
where the second register and work register are in their specified clean states. When range reflection is implemented from row preparation, the supplied circuit word is ; the access-cost theorem proves that on the clean-work subspace it realizes the logical reflection . The swap acts as on the first two registers and as the identity on .
Query calls, gate counts, circuit-description bits, uniform-generation time, and precision are separate cost coordinates. A controlled walk implemented factor by factor needs controlled access to each constituent, including the preparation calls, , and the swap. A matrix by itself supplies none of these circuits or efficient costs. For a family of encoded chains, a uniform circuit family is an additional explicit input, not a consequence of the finite matrix definition.
