How statement and proof provenance work

The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.

  • Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
  • AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
  • AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.

These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.

Ancilla-free Rz approximation problem and T-count

Definition

For θ∈R set Rz(θ)=diag⁡(e−iθ/2,eiθ/2). Given ε>0, the on-the-nose ancilla-free approximation problem is to find a finite one-qubit Clifford+T word U such that

∥Rz(θ)−U∥op≤ε,

and minimize the number of occurrences of T or T†; the T-count of a word is this integer. An overall scalar Clifford phase ωjI, viewed under Global Phase Equivalence, is free in the resource count but remains part of the exact matrix used in the displayed norm inequality. Thus changing the representative can change feasibility even when it leaves T-count unchanged. No workspace wire is permitted. The operator norm is the finite-dimensional norm from The operator norm is zero on the zero domain and otherwise is max_{||v||=1} ||Tv||.

This defines a mathematical optimization problem for exact real inputs (θ,ε). It does not specify a bit representation or assert a Turing algorithm for arbitrary real input.

Unresolved supplier checks

The actual QC07 gate/rotation and QC09 circuit/resource bodies were inspected. The resource vector counts explicit occurrences and keeps weighted/query costs separate; this problem's T-count is the stated number of T or T† occurrences while exact matrix phase remains in the error objective. No bit encoding or Turing-time claim for arbitrary real inputs is made.

27 results within two dependency steps of this one, each drawn at its shortest distance from it. An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
