How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Rasmussen’s s-invariant
Definition
Assume the Axiom of Countable Choice. For an oriented knot , let be its two-dimensional rational Lee homology with the diagram-independent induced decreasing quantum filtration . For a nonzero class , define its filtration level by Set The equality of the two formulas is part of the definition’s well-definedness, supplied by the rank-two Lee filtration theorem.

Facts & Assumptions
Given: and the filtered Lee homology of an oriented knot.
Lee homology of a knot is two-dimensional, and the two canonical orientation classes form a basis (Lee homology of a knot has two generators).
The induced filtration on Lee homology is independent of the diagram (Lee filtered homology is an oriented link invariant).
The two knot filtration levels differ by exactly two, by the marked-circle involution on the two quantum congruence lines (Lee filtration, spectral sequence, and orientation classes).
is the axiom branch used by the finite diagram-move proof of [F2] (The Axiom of Countable Choice ()).
Proof
Given: The hypotheses of the Definition.
The filtration on the finite Lee complex is finite, so its induced filtration on the two-dimensional homology is finite. By [F1] the vector space is nonzero, and therefore every nonzero class has a finite integer level . The set of levels is a nonempty subset of the finite set of filtration indices; hence its minimum and maximum exist. This uses no choice principle.
The two extremal filtration levels are the two surviving quantum degrees on the limiting page of the bounded spectral sequence. By [F3], their difference is exactly , so . The diagram-independence conclusion from [F2] uses the stated axiom branch [A1]. Thus the displayed formula defines an invariant of the oriented knot under AC.

18 results within two dependency steps of this one, each drawn at its shortest distance from it. An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
