How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Finite diagram tower inclusion and normalized right closure
Definition
Use the diagram algebra and its stacking convention from Temperley–Lieb planar diagram data and endomorphism modules and Stacking is associative and horizontal juxtaposition is strict monoidal. For , append a rightmost vertical strand to every diagram and extend linearly; denote this map by
For a basis diagram , join its rightmost top and bottom boundary points by an arc outside the rectangle, remove every resulting closed component with the factor , and retain the induced matching. Extend this right closure linearly as . When , define the normalized right-closure map
The normalized closure traces are those of Normalized Temperley–Lieb trace from diagram closure. No positivity of is included in this definition. The next result proves the algebraic expectation identities for and states precisely when it is a positive conditional expectation.
When , equip each diagram algebra with the conjugate-linear involution that reflects a diagram across a horizontal line and conjugates coefficients. Reflection reverses stacking and fixes the loop weight, so and . The positivity assertion below assumes this involution and a compatible finite-dimensional -algebra structure.
Remarks
For , closing the rightmost strand of removes the cap and cup on the last two points and leaves the identity diagram on the first two points; the extra factor is the normalization. The diagram below records the endpoint convention only. The proof uses the finite matching graph, not the drawing.

Dependency tree · two levels
12 results within two dependency steps of this one, each drawn at its shortest distance from it. An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
