How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
A meridian-preserving longitude twist extends over a solid torus
Example
Let have boundary meridian and longitude . The boundary matrix sends and . Its induced torus homeomorphism extends over by and preserves orientation.
The displayed rectangle is a two-unit-square window in the universal cover of the torus , with horizontal coordinate and vertical coordinate . The identifications are for all integers , so each unit square is a fundamental domain. The red lifted segment ends at and therefore represents the image of the longitude. The picture illustrates the slope convention only; the verification computes the map directly.

Facts & Assumptions
Given: The product solid torus and its meridian-longitude basis .
A torus map carrying the meridian slope to itself extends over the solid torus. A meridian-preserving torus homeomorphism extends over a solid torus
Verification
The matrix is integral with determinant , so its linear map on is a torus homeomorphism. Its first column is , hence it sends to , and its second column is , hence it sends to .
Define by . Since , this maps to itself, and its inverse is . Thus is a homeomorphism. On the meridian it has degree ; on the longitude it winds twice in the disk angle and once in the circle coordinate, giving the same matrix .
The disk rotation varies continuously with and contributes no orientation reversal; the circle coordinate is unchanged. Hence preserves the product orientation and is the required extension. This also instantiates [F1].

Dependency tree · two levels
2 results within two dependency steps of this one, each drawn at its shortest distance from it. An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
