How statement and proof provenance work

The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.

  • Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
  • AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
  • AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.

These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.

Private-message conditioning lowers output entropy

Statement

Under the hypotheses and decomposition of Conditioning on a private message separates average acceptance, the weights and posteriors can be chosen so that Σ_jq_j H(D_jA)≤H(DA)−1/2.

Facts & Assumptions

Given: Matrices and distribution as in Conditioning on a private message separates average acceptance, with the resulting qj,D(j),Xj.

[F1]

Conditioning on a private message separates average acceptance: For rows Xj equal to the transposes of the columns of M, ∑jqj(DA)XjT≤0.02 and ∑jqj(D(j)A)XjT≥0.99, with D=∑jqjD(j).

[F2]

A separating event forces relative entropy: If PXT≤0.06 and QXT≥0.94, then D(Q∥P)≥1.

Put P=DA and Qj=D(j)A. These are probability vectors and P=∑jqjQj. The weighted acceptance gap in [F1] is at least 0.97. Since every difference βj=(Qj−P)XjT lies in [−1,1], the set U={j:βj≥0.94} has weight at least 1/2: otherwise the weighted average is less than 0.94+0.06⋅(1/2)=0.97. For j∈U, QjXjT≥0.94 and PXjT=QjXjT−βj≤0.06.

By [F2], D(Qj∥P)≥1 for each j∈U. Direct expansion of the finite sums, using Pi=∑jqj(Qj)i, gives H(P)−∑jqjH(Qj)=∑jqjD(Qj∥P). If Pi=0, every positive-weight (Qj)i is zero, so no undefined logarithm enters. The right side is at least the weight of U, hence at least 1/2. Substituting P=DA and Qj=D(j)A proves the entropy drop.
