How statement and proof provenance work

The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.

  • Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
  • AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
  • AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.

These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.

Hermitian Pauli phase criterion

Statement

For P(k,x,z)=ikXxZz∈Pn, the operator is Hermitian exactly when k≡x⋅z(mod2). In that case P(k,x,z)2=I.

Facts & Assumptions

Given: k∈Z/4Z, x,z∈F2n, and the phase-aware Pauli convention.

[F1]

Pauli product and adjoint: P(k,x,z)∗=P(2(x⋅z)−k,x,z) and P(k,x,z)2=P(2k+2(x⋅z),0,0).

Proof

1.1givenF1algebra

Put p=x⋅z∈F2 and use its representative 0 or 1. By [F1], equality P∗=P is equivalent to 2p−k≡k(mod4), or 2(k−p)≡0(mod4), which holds exactly when k−p is even, that is, k≡p(mod2).

The same product formula gives P2=i2(k+p)I=(−1)k+pI, which equals I exactly under the parity condition in 1.1. Conversely, if P is Hermitian then 1.1 gives that condition.

Dependency tree · two levels

12 results within two dependency steps of this one, each drawn at its shortest distance from it. An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
