How statement and proof provenance work

The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.

  • Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
  • AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
  • AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.

These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.

Marginal uniformity makes an RQMC rule unbiased

Statement

Let X1,…,Xn be a marginally uniform randomized point array in [0,1)d, with no independence assumption among its points. For every Borel f∈L1([0,1)d), the RQMC estimator I^n(f)=n−1∑i=1nf(Xi) is integrable and E[I^n(f)]=∫[0,1)df(x) dx.

Facts & Assumptions

Given: The probability space, the marginally uniform array, and a Borel integrable f.

[F1]

Randomized quasi-Monte Carlo point sets and estimators: Each Xi has normalized Lebesgue law, and I^n(f)=n−1∑if(Xi).

[F2]

Change of variables for expectation: If g(X) is integrable, then E[g(X)]=∫g dPX.

[F3]

The Lebesgue integral is linear on L1(μ): The integral is linear on L1.

Proof

technique · direct

Given: n≥1, X1,…,Xn with the marginal laws in [F1], and f∈L1([0,1)d).

1.1F1F2given

By [F1], the law of every Xi is normalized Lebesgue measure. Since f is integrable for that law, [F2] gives E[f(Xi)]=∫[0,1)df(x) dx=I(f) for each i, and each f(Xi) is integrable.

The finite sum of the integrable variables f(Xi) is integrable. By linearity, E[I^n(f)]=n−1∑i=1nE[f(Xi)]=n−1∑i=1nI(f)=I(f). No covariance or independence assumption is used.
