How statement and proof provenance work

The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.

  • Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
  • AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
  • AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.

These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.

Periodic Sobolev domain for a circle

Definition

Assume the Axiom of Choice and Countable Choice. Let S1=R/(2πZ) with angular coordinate ϕ, and identify L2(S1;C) with L2((0,2π),dϕ;C); the omitted endpoint has measure zero. Let H2(0,2π) be the interval Sobolev space whose elements and first two weak derivatives are in L2. For f∈H2(0,2π) use the continuous endpoint representatives of f and f′, and denote their traces by f∗(0),f∗(2π) and (f′)∗(0),(f′)∗(2π). Define the periodic second-order domain Hper2(S1)={f∈H2(0,2π):f∗(0)=f∗(2π), (f′)∗(0)=(f′)∗(2π)}. It is the domain used for the periodic realization of the second derivative; it imposes no boundary at the angular seam beyond periodic matching.
